Can’t come Friday?
We’ll have the bags showcased Sat. March 31st as well!

Featured Group

Worn as a functional day bag or an elegant evening bag, “you’ll get more comments on your Escama than any other accessory you own.”

Made by two craft cooperatives — Cia do Lacre and As Panteras do Lacre — located in economically depressed 'satellite cities' of Brasília, Brazil. The co-ops allow women in the community to earn money through handicrafts and business training. They are a place where friends are made and self-esteem is regained.  Inside each Escama bag is a card bearing the name of the artist who hand-crocheted the piece. The number of women working on production has risen from 12 one year ago to over 50 today!

Interesting Facts:

  • Escama means fish scales in Portuguese
  • Founder, Andy Krumholz is a native of Shaker Heights!
